Fall into fun @ the library!

Events Calendar for October, 2008

Free computer instruction is available @ the library! COMPUTER CLASSES for beginning-level computer users are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Sign-ups available at the library (no sign-ups by phone). Currently offering “Basic Computer,” “Beyond Basics,” “Advanced Basics,” “Resum├ęs,” and “Genealogy”— check at the library for dates & times. Sign up in the library; no sign-ups by phone.

TUMBLEWEED TALES POETRY GROUP will meet here Saturday, October 4, at 10am, and every 1st Saturday! Join us at the library to share, listen, and enjoy poetry. Original poetry encouraged, or just read an old favorite! All ages welcome! And now the group also offers Shakespeare Made Simple! on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10am and Shakespeare Reader’s Theatre on Tuesdays, 4-6pm. Free, for all ages.

The Library will once again offer its patrons a FINE AMNESTY, October 6-11. All fines will be removed on overdue items returned during this week; does not apply to fines already accrued.

Family Craft will be held Saturday, October 11. Bring the kids and enjoy some fun time together! 10-11am @ the library. This month we’ll make a free, fun Dangling Bat Door Hanger—just in time for Halloween decorating! Join Miss Brenda for seasonal fun!

It’s time again for the PCL WINTER READING PROGRAM! October 15 thru December 17. This year’s theme: “Dino-Tails Reading!” Sign up now; free classes available for all ages. Tiny Dino’s (age 2 & 3; parent/guardian must accompany child) Wednesdays, 9:15-9:45am; T-Rex Tails (age 4-5) Wednesdays, 10-10:45am; Story-Osauraus (age 6-12) Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm; and Teens (5th grade & up) Thursdays, 3-4pm. Call the library for more information.

Join us for a free, fun Adult Workshop on Thursday, October 16! We’ll make fun, seasonal Spook-tacular Magnets. Free, fun & easy—and just in time for Halloween! Adults only; kids 14 & up welcome with an adult.

The Pahrump Anime Club will hold its regular meeting at the library Saturday, October 18, 12-4pm. Showings this month will be: 12:00 - Gunparade March #9-10 (Sub-Titled), 1:00 - Inuyasha #14-16 (English), 2:00 - Ragnarok #4 (English), 2:30 - Devil May Cry #7 (Sub-Titled), 3:00 - Ranma 1/2 (English). Also this month we are featuring a Cosplaying contest. There will be prizes so be sure to enter. Absolutely no unaccompanied children under the age of 10.

Our Favorite Authors Bookclub will meet Tuesday, October 21, at 1:30pm. This month’s author is Harper Lee. Read Ms. Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” then come enjoy a lively discussion! New members always welcome, so bring a friend!

This month’s Movie Day will be Saturday, October 25. Feature title: TBA. Free family fun!

Kids, be sure to stop by and TRICK-OR-TREAT @ the Library! All day, October 30. Wear your costume and get lots of treats! Happy Halloween! Please note: Can-for-a-Costume has been cancelled for 2008 due to lack of community response. Any donations received this year will be kept for use next year.
