It's new! And (hopefully) improved!

If you got here from our homepage you may already know: the library website has been re-done. Hopefully, it's a little easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. Please let me know if you find any problems, or if you like it better. If you found this blog without going through the library's site, please check it out! Lots of info, fun stuff, and links, links, and more links!

Last month of "summer freedom"

Ah, August--heat, swimming, popsicles--and getting ready for "back to school!" Guess what? The library is having a School Supply Drive all month! We hope lots of you will get involved and bring us your new items to donate. The past couple of years we've had a great response to this community effort (thanks, Pahrump!) and, hopefully, this year will be no different. This time we'll be giving all the proceeds from the drive to local area schools, for distribution to their teachers for use in the classrooms. Just our way of helping out and showing our educators that we realize what an important job they have: the education of the leaders of tomorrow! Won't you do your part? Bring your donations to the library anytime during our regular hours.

Summer Reading Program

Kids in the library!? A huge success! We had over 300 kids in the 4 summer reading program classes this year. The theme was Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales, and let me tell you, they had fun. Reading logs were filled in, prizes given out, stories read, crafts made, songs sung, and funfunfun! What a good place to meet up with friends over the summer, right? Everybody's looking forward to the Winter Reading Program, which won't start till October--you'll just have to wait!
